Solution
An immersive wall of content which functions not only as an ambient intrigue, but also reacts to users' presence, providing a wealth of historical content to enjoy in place, or take with you on your device into the terminal.
Insight
Some patrons have moments to spend, some have hours; an installation needs to work equally as an ambient accent as well as an engaging focal point for both the passerby and the lingerer.
Challenge
On the eve of the airport’s centennial, massport wants to create a statement piece to accent the new international terminal at Boston Logan.
I’ve always enjoyed animating, bringing still images to life, and Logan 100 was a great test for how many animations I can pull of in a short time span with a large amount of content. The challenge was daunting but the process was fun and engaging, and the outcome was well worth it.
I wanted to invoke a floaty dreamy style that makes it seeming like Logan is drifting from memory to memory of the good times, the innovations, and the hardships that they’ve had to overcome.
From working on the branding, layout design, and colorizing old images using AI, to animating each scene and transition, editing video, and quality assurance, it brings a single tear to my eye having been able to launch such an insightful retrospective project about my home turf of Boston.

Reception
From the opening ceremony to the day-to-day, with over 70 million travelers passing though Terminal E each year, the audience for Logan 100 is likely the largest for any of our projects to date, and we’re proud to be able to share these pieces of our hometown’s history with the all who pass through the airport.
Development
Given the nature of the location and the amount of foot traffic, the installation needed to impress at a glance, complement the space, and provide a compelling passive as well as active experience. A 24-foot-wide array of screens was therefore created as the canvas upon which to illustrate the airports rich history in a mosaic of imagery and video. Thanks to a generous partnership with the Boston Globe and a lot of video editing elbow grease, we were able to craft a grand visual experience that was reactive to passersby, engaging and atmospheric at once.
Background
As completion approached on the construction of the re-imagined Terminal E just in time for Logan's 100th anniversary, Massport wanted to greet travelers with an engaging experience to celebrate their long history of aviation excellence.

A permanent feature of Boston Logan's new International Terminal, Logan 100 is a powerful interactive audiovisual exhibit which celebrates the century-long legacy of the historic transportation hub.
